EID MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT OF THE BCMA

All praise belongs to Allah, the Creator of heavens and earth and everything in between, the Lord of the universe.

Brothers, sisters, elders, and youth: Assalamu-Alaykum-wa Rahamatullahi-wa Barakatahu.

On behalf of the Executive Council and all other officers of BCMA, I extend to you and your families, a very happy and joyous Eid Mubarak.

We bow our heads in gratitude to Allah Subhan wa Ta’ala, Who has once again, granted us this chance to fast, pray and ask for forgiveness of our sins. Ramadan, being a month of complete submission to the Will of Allah Ta’ala has blessed us with an opportunity to draw closer to Him, our Lord.

Let us endeavor to be better Muslims, that is, to submit fully to Allah and be peaceful people. Also, let us, by example, continue to show the world that Islam is a religion of peace and tolerance, thus dispelling the wrong impression created by the acts of some misguided individuals.

Eid al-Fitr is a day of celebration! A day of praising and thanking Allah Subhan wa Ta’ala for the health and opportunity he has granted us to undertake this spiritual journey of perseverance, patience, prayer and submission to His Will. It is a day of spreading goodwill and love amongst all people irrespective of caste, creed, and color. This is the day to celebrate with family, friends and neighbors. Make this an extra special day for all the children, buy them gifts and make them feel proud to be a Muslim so they will consider Eid celebrations as the best of all celebrations throughout the year.

Eid is a time to give in charity. Let us remember the sick, the poor and the needy in our community and the victims of disasters all over the world who are less fortunate and suffer hunger and thirst everyday of their lives. It is incumbent upon us to give Sadaqa and pay our Fitrana and Zakat so that we may provide relief to them on all our behalf.

We at BCMA continue to focus on providing Islamic education and services in order to create and establish a stronger and more vibrant Muslim society for the future.

Your help and support is very much needed to help establish BCMA into a more dynamic, transparent and inclusive organization that will be able to tackle the challenges associated with the fastest growing religion in Canada. Come and join us, become a member, and volunteer or stand for an office within BCMA to serve the Muslim community.

I would like to take a moment to thank everyone who has sacrificed their time and provided financial help to make BCMA what it is today. May Allah Taala reward you and your families for making the Ummah stronger in this part of the world!

To the youth of today and leaders of tomorrow, come and get engaged. We need your expertise, suggestions and new ideas. Feel free to write or call me directly.

It is time for us old folks to take a back seat and hand over the reins to the next generation to carry on this most challenging and yet rewarding work.

In closing, let us pray to Allah Subhan-wa-Taala that He may shower His infinite mercy on the entire Ummah and accepts our humble effort towards the common goal of making this world a better place for all to live.

Once again, EID MUBARAK to you all.

Your Brother in Islam.
