FYI, Sadaqat-ul-Fitr is $10.00 person.

Eid Message from the President
In the name of Allah, the most benevolent, the most merciful!
All praise belongs to Allah, the Originator and Creator of the Heavens and the earth, the Lord of the universe.
Brothers, sisters and youth:
Assalamu-Alaykum – wa Rahamatullahi – wa Barakatahu.
On behalf of the Executive Council and all other Officers of BCMA, I extend to you and your families, a very happy and joyous Eid Mubarak.
First and foremost let us thank Allah Subhanahu-wa-Taala for giving us another opportunity to make ibadah in this blessed month of Ramadan and to celebrate Eid today.
During the month of Ramadan all our Masajid were buzzing with activities. It was great to see many new faces and we hope that you will continue to come to the Masjid along with your families and friends whenever possible. Let us continue the lessons of Ramadan by establishing a family prayer time at least once a day in every household. This is the best way to keep our families on the path of Islam and set an example for our children. Like they say “Pray together - Stay together”.
BCMA is also going through a transformation. We feel it is time to step back from building any more large scale Masjid and focus instead on establishing centers of education, Insha Allah.

First:

We need to establish a proper Elementary school in Surrey for the growing population. This will also alleviate the space constraints in both our Surrey Masjid.

Second:

Where ever possible, we plan to utilize our Masjid properties to provide Daycare and or Pre-school services. This is where the foundation of Islamic education for our children shall begin.

Third:
|
We are poised to introduce a new standardized and progressive system for our after school (Madersa) programs at all our sites. Please enroll your children.

Fourth:
|
We plan to engage our Imams to establish customized classes for Adults, New Muslims, Sisters and Seniors for their unique needs and requirements.

Fifth:
|
We shall provide access to online seminars and classes for those who wish to learn at their own pace from the privacy of their homes.
|
Insha Allah, this focus on providing Islamic education though our own facilities using modern technology will help us create and establish a stronger and more vibrant Muslim society which will generate great ambassadors of Islam for the future.
There are many other areas which require feasibility studies such as Islamic Finance and Wills, our own Radio and TV program, Shelter for Sisters and Seniors’ Home etc. If you can help in any of these areas, please give us a call.
We also plan to establish more open dialogue and relationships with other Muslim Organizations within BC and across Canada for the purpose of addressing some of the common services that can be best served collectively.
To make this transformation, first we need your help to complete our current Masjid and Education centre projects in Prince George and Victoria. Please donate generously or provide kharde hasna towards the building of these houses of Allah. A dollar a day ($1) from each working adults will help us achieve most of our goals.
Let us all work together to turn BCMA into an organization that is more dynamic, robust, transparent, young, and inclusive and one that will be able to tackle the challenges associated with one of the fastest growing ethnic communities in Canada. Come and join us, become a member, volunteer or an official to serve the Muslim community.
On this day of Eid-al-Fitr, let us remember the poor and the needy in our community locally and the victims of disasters all over the world. The past financial contribution from you in the form of Fitrana, Zakat and Sadaqa has helped us provide relief to them and we pray that you will continue to provide your support in the future.
To the youth of today and leaders of tomorrow, come and get engaged. We need your expertise in many of the Committees that exist today. We are also very much open to new ideas and suggestions. Feel free to write or call me directly.
I would like to take a moment to thank all brothers and sisters who have sacrificed their time, money, efforts, resources, and skills to make the BCMA what it is today. May Allah reward you and your families for helping to make the Ummah stronger in this part of the world!
In closing, let us pray to Allah Subhanahu-wa-Taala that He may shower His infinite mercy on the entire Ummah and accepts our humble effort and I ask Allah Subhanahu-wa-Taala to guide us to do what is right for the community at large.
